JV Gold Spring 2010 Weekly Update April 27th
|
Gold Players, Parents, and world-wide followers of our team:
Wow, what a week! Although we were rained out on Saturday, our JV Gold team played a total of 56
matches!!!
All the teams we faced this week were the 2nd teams of their respective schools (varsity reserve and 1st
team jv players). Here is a recap of the action:
Tuesday we traveled to West Allis Hale and faced a tough opponent. Our starters pulled out a 6 matches
to 1 victory, but three of those wins came by way of tie-breakers. Congrats to Matt Lenahan, Nico
Villareal (1st and 2nd singles) and Kyle Gilbert/Frank Stengl (3rd doubles) for their dramatic wins, 8-7
respectively! Matt Goblitsch (9) and Seth Parker (11) and the doubles team of Bomberg(10)/Tomosangi
(11) won their exhibition matches with dominating 8-0 victories.
Wednesday we visited Germantown and braved strong winds and temperatures in the low 40's to win of
7-0! Hector "Manny" Lopez (12) was honored with "Hilltopper of the Week" honors for his
come-from-behind 8-6 victory at 4th singles after being down 3 games to 5. Our 1st doubles team of
McCormick (11)/Reznicek (11) won a close battle, closing out their opponent 8-7 after winning a 10-point
tie-breaker, 10-7. Chris Klotsche (11) at 3rd singles, Quick (11)/Gilbert (11) at 2nd doubles, and C.
Alston (11)/Maloney (11) won in convincing fashion, achieving scores of 8-1, 8-1, and 8-2 respectively.
West Bend was a test on Friday as we traveled north to the far regions of I-45. We pulled out a 5-2 team
victory, led by Paul Bodalski (11) at 4th singles (9-1), Enright (9)/Stengl (9) at 3rd doubles (9-3), and
Armstrong (9)/MacCarthy (9) at 4th doubles (9-5).

Things are going to get interesting! Of course, drivers are much needed for the matches this week. The
South match is a home match for me since I live about 500 feet from Heyer Park (I'll walk home). Let me
know if you have any comments or questions. I am proud of everyone on this team, thus far. Thanks to
all the parents for their support!
